Student Ministry

The Student Ministry at FBC Keller focuses on three priorities to equip our students for the Christian life.

We TEACH students an active foundation of theology by equipping them for growth in the knowledge, love, and practical application of God’s Word.

We TRAIN students in active church membership and missional living by promoting leadership responsibilities in order to make disciple-makers in the context of the local church and every sphere of their life’s influence.

We desire for parents and students to KNOW God through a relationship with Him, TESTIFY to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and live lives of love and service to God and others.

Student Calendar – Fall 2017/Spring 2018

Preteen Ministry – Grades 5 and 6

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, ROOTED and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
–Colossians 2:6-7

Preteen Ministry at FBC Keller focuses on a firm solid foundation (ROOTED) in the Lord Jesus Christ. We teach and train our students to walk with the Lord and be sound in their faith.

We teach our Students in grades 5 and 6 apart from Children’s Ministry, knowing that during this time they are most inquisitive about their faith, need additional nourishment as they become teenagers, and will face more struggles.

We have some of the greatest lay leaders and volunteers that serve in our various ministries, as well as a great staff that is here to serve you and get connected with your family.

Missions Activities – Mission Friends, R.A.s, and G.A.s

Our children’s mission organizations meet during the school year on Wednesday night from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. We have organizations for preschoolers and elementary age boys and girls.

Mission Friends
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

Mission Friends is designed for our children who are three years old through kindergarten age. In this program, children learn about different missionaries, their family life, and where they live. A primary focus at this age is an awareness of other cultures and places because Jesus loves all people, even different cultures. They learn to share stories of Jesus at home and with friends.

Royal Ambassadors (R.A.s)
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

R.A.s is a missions education program for boys in the first through sixth grade. Our emphasis is to teach these young men how to be Christ-like and how to carry the message of Christ around the world. We do this through stories, videos, scripture memory, Bible study and activities during class times. Each week in the R.A. program, we learn about different missionaries and how God uses them to spread His Word to all corners of the globe. The emphasis is not just on what others are doing but on how we can be “On Mission” as well. R.A.s learn about the saving power of Jesus Christ and that everyone needs to accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

We also have special missionary speakers from time to time and the monthly Gym Night is always a hit with these active guys. In addition, the R.A. calendar is packed full of fun events. These events give the boys a chance to do things boys love to do, like race pinewood derby cars and go camping.

Girls in Action (G.A.s)
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

G.A.s is for girls in the first through sixth grade. The focus is on learning what a missionary is, the difference between home and foreign missionaries, and what a missionary does. To apply their learning, the girls become involved in mission activities in the home and in our surrounding communities.

Bible Drill

Sunday afternoons
October through April
4:00 – 5:15 p.m.

Preteen Students meet to better equip themselves in the Word. They memorize scripture with faithful adults who lead them in events throughout the year. The students participate in three levels of Drill: Church Drill, Association Drill and Date Drill.

Identity – VBS

June 4-7
8:45 a.m. – Noon
For students who have finished 5th Grade

Who am I? At the heart of life’s biggest questions, arises this one. To understand our identity, we will explore what the Bible says about God’s character, our sinfulness, Jesus’ sacrifice, and salvation that redeems. Finding our identity in Christ is the solution to life’s biggest challenges.

Survivor – VBS

June 4-7
8:45 a.m. – Noon
For students who have finished 6th Grade

Life is more than survival. It’s meant to be victorious! If Jesus lives in you, if He’s your Savior and Lord, then you’ll survive anything because “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” We will focus on not merely surviving, but living victoriously through Jesus.

Student Ministry – Grades 7 through 12

Sunday Mornings at 11:00

Students grades 7 through 12 meet in the LOFT for a time of large group teaching, followed by small group discussion within their grade level. The purpose of this time is to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word, develop a love of Scripture and how to apply it to their lives, therefore preparing them for a lifetime of following Christ.

Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
(1st Wednesday of the month will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a free meal for students)

Equip is a weekly gathering for worship and discipleship. The first part of the evening is spent in worship (led by our student band), praying, and reading Scripture together. The second part of EQUIP is spent in small groups for the purpose of intentional life-on-life discipleship. Students will be paired with those who are the same age and gender led by adult/student leaders who will help them grow in their walk with Jesus.

Student Events

Summer Youth Camp, Disciple Now, and various retreats are a few of the recurring events where students can build their relationship with the Lord and their peers. Vacation Bible School, Mission Trips, Ministry Teams, and Greeters are just a few examples of service opportunities in which students are involved.

We seek to ENCOURAGE and EQUIP college-aged individuals in their walk with Jesus through deep Bible study, accountability relationships, and local church leadership.
