Eman building. Minister Geoffrey Wever, along with representatives from Aruba Bank, the Aruba Monuments Fund Foundation (SMFA), and the Dutch National Restoration Fund (NRF), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to purchase, restore, and repurpose the former Aruba Bank building, located at Caya G.F. Betico Croes 41. The building will become the new home for the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and the Social and Economic Council (SER). This achievement is a key part of Minister Wever’s broader vision to revitalize Oranjestad’s city center by restoring historical landmarks and increasing foot traffic. Originally built in 1925 as the John G. Eman Bank and later becoming Aruba Bank in 1936, the building has stood vacant for over a decade. Thanks to this collaboration, it will soon be transformed into a modern, mixed-use space that honors its rich history. The building’s ground floor will feature a commercial hospitality facility, while the upper floors will house offices for CBS and SER, as well as a luxurious apartment. This project aligns with Minister Wever’s goal of creating mixed-use developments that combine government offices, residential units, and commercial spaces to rejuvenate Oranjestad’s downtown area. The John G. Eman building joins several other ongoing restoration projects that are breathing new life into Oranjestad. These include the renovation of the former Public Prosecution Service building into student housing and the restoration of the Interbank building to house the Bureau for Intellectual Property (BIE) and SEDECO. The building’s unique architecture is expected to earn it monument protection from the Monuments Bureau once officially acquired by SMFA. The restoration will not only preserve the building’s historical significance but also contribute to the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts. The MoU outlines a timeline for securing funding for the restoration, with NRF and SMFA given six months to finalize financial arrangements. Once the funding is in place, SMFA will proceed with the necessary procedures to complete the building’s transfer and begin the restoration process, aiming to officially start the project by the end of 2025. Minister Wever expressed his pride in the collaboration that made this milestone possible and thanked the involved partners for their commitment. “I want to thank the Aruba Monuments Fund Foundation, Aruba Bank, and the Dutch National Restoration Fund for partnering with the Government of Aruba to take this important step in revitalizing Oranjestad and preserving our national heritage,” he said. The restoration of the John G. Eman building marks the beginning of its preservation for future generations while contributing to Oranjestad’s revitalization and growth.ANDOVER, Mass. , Nov. 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- TransMedics Group, Inc. Daily Post Nigeria Ogun Assembly passes 2025 appropriation bill, adjusts estimates of 21 agencies Home News Politics Metro Entertainment Sport News Ogun Assembly passes 2025 appropriation bill, adjusts estimates of 21 agencies Published on December 24, 2024 By Gift Oba Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill of N1, 054, 542,020,147 presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun 20 days ago. The assembly made slight adjustments in the recurrent expenditures of about 21 agencies. The capital expenditures of five agencies were also slightly adjusted alongside the revenue targets of two agencies. The passage of the appropriation bill followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by its chairman, Musefiu Lamidi, who thereafter moved the motion for its adoption, seconded by his deputy, Wahab Haruna and supported by the whole house during a plenary presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide, at the assembly complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Tuesday. The bill was later read and adopted, clause by clause, before the Committee of the Whole, after which the motion for the third reading was moved by Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye and supported by all the lawmakers through a unanimous voice vote. The clerk and Head of the Legislative Service, Sakiru Adebakin, read the bill for the third time before the state lawmakers. The speaker therefore directed that the clean copy of the bill be forwarded to Governor Abiodun for his assent. Some of the agencies that had their proposed budgets adjusted included the Ministry of Budget and Planning, which had its estimate increased from N1.475 billion to N1.902 billion, given an increase of N427 million, and the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, which got an increment of N719 million from N1.780 billion to N2.499 billion. The proposed budgetary allocation of the Ogun State Ministry of Health was raised from N3.806 billion to N4.116 billion, just as the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission’s budget proposal moved from N34.412 billion to N35.912 billion. The budget of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, was moved from N1.347 billion to N1.372 billion, while that of the State Hospital, Sokenu, Abeokuta, also got an addition, rising from N3.208 billion to N3.348 billion. Also, Ogun State Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun, had its budget increased from N765 million to N 1.575 billion, while that of the Ogun State Environment Protection Agency moved from N252 million to N262 million, just as the Ogun State Library Board’s 2025 budget was raised from N147 million to N177 million.
